We’re not in Kansas anymore and I’m glad. At a vibrant 50 plus, I was in search of a name for this magazine that would represent the energetic part of aging without limitations. Something that represented me and my friends in our continued quest to learn, improve and develop our full potential. The average person uses a small percentage of their brainpower during a lifetime, so at 52, I figure I am just getting started. I intend to have fun with the second half of my journey as I fulfill my fondest dreams. In that spirit of creative vibrance, we’ve come up with something different for those of you who are like me: choosing to embark on new voyages of discovery rather than seek safe haven at port.

Full Swing is about empowerment and is meant to encourage, entertain, and report about who we really are. We seek to become an energy driven movement that will contradict the stigma that being mature means being finished. Being over 50 doesn’t mean we’ve stopped being cool, interesting, and active.

So who is the Full Swing reader?
Our audience lives in the moment and embraces what is to come.

We fight for our causes with passion and give a damn about our neighbors. We began when life was much simpler, yet, we embraced technology like troopers and became the fastest growing demographic on Facebook.

I laugh at the companies that think we don’t matter. In doing research for the magazine, I came across a statistic that states 93% of boomers give money to their kids. (No one needed to tell us that!) We give money to our kids and our grandkids. We take trips around the world. We can beat a threatening disease and climb Mount Kilimanjaro all in the same year. We purchase a new sports car just because we can. We continue to reinvent ourselves and courage is our middle name. We can handle anything… we are the glue that holds the family together.

An active bunch, we desire choices and brands that will represent our love for life and sense of adventure.

Full Swing is here— and not a moment too soon—to represent those who fully live the second half of their lives, and recognize that this life, in this moment, is worth living. So we say to everyone who’s entering into or who is already on their journey to bring it on, because the best is yet to come.
