THE LONG WALK
It’s over. So many emotions had led to this moment. Mission complete (and, I did make it to my nephew’s graduation in time).
STANDING PROUD
Remarkable women and an attainable goal after all. We all walked away with a new sense of awe for each other and amazing new friendships. We are Iron Girls!
WINNER
Lisa Anderson, both coach and inspiration, turned herself into a triathlete after substantial weight loss and sheer will power.
AT THE FINISH LINE
No.19 has made it to the finish line with a finish time of 3:02:06 (77th in the 50-plus age group) and a 33:19 swim time.
HILL FROM HELL
After you complete the swim, you quickly run up this steep hill and head to the transition area for the 19-mile bike ride.
BOY OH BUOY
Swim for your life with flying legs and arms everywhere. The race was on and all you want to do is reach the first buoy.
A SEA OF PINK
1,035 strong, Iron Girls come in all shapes, sizes and ages. Our 50+ group wore pink caps and included 181 women. The oldest finisher was Bonnie Cory, age 70 from Anniston, Alabama. Finish Time: 2:50:39 (20:29 swim).
RARIN’ TO GO
It’s 6AM, one hour before the race. We asked everyone 50+ to join in a photo. This is just a few of the remarkable women preparing for a great day.
EYE CANDY
Each woman had her entry number marked on her arm or hand and every woman had her age posted clearly on her leg. In other situations this might not fly, but with this group, we wore our ages proudly.
